I came up with the idea for Astrakore several years ago, when I sat down and wondered what it would feel like to explore space in a ship I had created. I didn’t just want to have a small ship with no character. I wanted something the size of the Star Ship Enterprise with a crew I could interact with. I wanted to be able to look out the windows of ship and see undiscovered planets.
As the project evolved, I realized that simply being able to build a ship and fly it around a galaxy isn’t very interesting on it’s own. You have to have characters and adventure to make it interesting. Since I’m a small one man studio, I didn’t have the ability to animate an entire story. So Astrakore’s story is entirely procedural. That means you can interact with events and nothing is set in stone.
